Easy Kitchen Renovations

Let’s Go Out Back Tonight – And Toss Some Shrimps on the BBQ

More and more people are finding that just a grill and a little shade simply doesn’t cut it anymore. We spend a great deal of time making our homes perfect. It only makes sense to carry that out through the back yard, deck or patio and make additional “living” space – outside. On beautiful warm nights, who wants to be stuck inside cooking when all of your guests are outside enjoying the music, pool, beach and socializing with each other?

Outdoor kitchens are becoming more popular each passing year. At one time, the lonely grill was stored in an out of the way corner of the patio, waiting to be uncovered and used. Australian’s love the outdoor life offered in most of the country. Creating an outdoor kitchen can be easy and relatively inexpensive or extravagant and costly. The biggest determining factor – is you.

What do you want to accomplish with your new outdoor kitchen? Do you spend nearly every weekend or multiple nights per week outside, cooking on your current grill? Or are you the occasional entertainer that still wants to have the back yard be an extension of your home rather than just a patch of dirt with a barbeque grill and some mismatched lawn chairs?

Building an outdoor kitchen isn’t nearly as difficult as one might think. The easiest way to do it, is to incorporate an easy “L” shaped design that has the built-in grill, a nice benchtop to use for placing your food, before, during and after cooking and a little cabinetry on the “inside” of the “L” for storing your plates, cooking equipment and miscellaneous items. On the outside of the “L”, have a nice facing – and possibly a few stools (if you allowed some overhang area on the benchtop) so your guests can sit while you cook. You can make this area out of just about any material your budget will allow!

If you decide you want to be a bit fancier than that – you can add a sink for rinsing the food while you prepare it, or a fridge to hold the beer or wine, and a bucket or two for ice. Of course, many people are not necessarily the best “do-it yourselfers” out there and for you – there are so many places close by that specialize in creating your perfect outdoor kitchen.

There are so many incredible choices in range styles and finishes, a variety of finishes for your benchtops, fabulous cabinet and shelving options, that you may want to visit a few of the showrooms or on line catalogs to get some ideas for yours before you start laying out the plans.

Enjoy yourself and remember – Go Out Back Tonight and have a great time in your own back yard! It’s got the greatest hosts in town!
